Era Motorsport Ready for F4 and More at Road America SpeedTour

PLYMOUTH, Wisconsin (May 18, 2023) - Era Motorsport is excited to head this weekend to Plymouth Wisconsin to take part in the 2023 Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) Road America SpeedTour weekend.

Era Motorsport will be fielding three cars at Road America, one as part of the second round of the F4 US Championship with karting prodigy Matthew Higgins behind the wheel, and the other two being historic cars for an Era Motorsport customer competing in Groups 10 and 11.

Formula 4 US Championship

Matthew Higgins is back behind the wheel of the Era Motorsport No. 18 machine for round two Formula 4 US Championship Powered by Honda in 2023.

After a promising start to the season at NOLA Motorsports Park in March, Higgins has completed testing under the instruction of team owner Kyle Tilley and heads into Road America with a much more extensive understanding of the car, and the setup changes necessary for continued racing.

The car already felt pretty good during the race at NOLA,” Higgins said, “but after doing some more testing the team and I have a much better understanding of the car.

“I can’t wait to hit the track this weekend and see where we stack up!”

Higgins competes in the F4 car as part of the Era Motorsport Driver Development program, with the goal of taking drivers from karting, and putting them into a car for the first time to expand their driving skill-set, and prepare them for a career in racing.

As part of the program, Higgins will run a full season of the F4 US Championship, and also undergo testing in the Era Motorsport LMP2 car later in the year.

The F4 US Championship is a series designed for up and coming drivers to learn racecraft and car control on their way to becoming professional racing drivers. The series in 2023 consists of six race weekends, with between two and three rounds each weekend.

Also this weekend Era Motorsport is proud to be supporting two iconic historic race cars for our customers, a 1990 Nissan 300GTX competing with GT cars in Group 10, and a 2012 HPD ARX-03b competing with prototypes in Group 11.

“These are some of the coolest cars we look after,” said team-owner Kyle Tilley.

“The Nissan is actually very similar to the NPT-90 we just finished rebuilding so it’s really cool to be able to provide support for that car, and the ARX-03b is just a previous generation LMP2 car, which of course is a category very near to our hearts.

“To have the team get all of these cars prepped while the UK shop is busy with thier own historics, and the LMP2 team is busy prepping cars to race on their is incredible to see. We’re truly firing on all cylinders as a business.

“And of course sharing the weekend with the modern F4 program, designed to help grow motorsport with new faces, we’re involving ourselves in multiple eras of racing at once, which is of course what we’re all about.”

The Nissan will be driven by long-time professional race car driver Rick Knoop, while the Honda will be piloted by SCCA professional Jason Miller.
